Nominations Requested Dean Search Advisory Committee for the USC Gould School of Law

August 2, 2023

Dear Gould School of Law Community,

We are beginning the process of assembling the search advisory committee that will identify and recruit the next dean of the law school.

I seek your nominations of Gould faculty and staff who should serve on this committee.

The committee will be co-chaired by Geoffrey Garrett, Dean of the USC Marshall School of Business and Robin Romans, Associate Vice Provost for Arts and Academic Affairs. I thank them for their service.

As Southern California’s first law school, USC Gould has grown with the Los Angeles area, offering an environment that fosters a wide range of perspectives and experiences while maintaining a faculty that is nationally recognized for its scholarship, interdisciplinary focus, public service, and leadership in the profession. The school holds a central position in our university community, so the appointment of the next dean is a high priority. We plan to move quickly to find a skilled, visionary, and nimble leader that is right for the school.

I want to thank Franita Tolson for her ongoing service as an interim dean. The Gould community is thoughtful, diverse, and dynamic; I look forward to the suggestions you will offer.

Please send your recommendations to uscprovost@usc.edu by Wednesday, August 16, 2023.

We will follow up with more information on next steps in the process in the coming weeks.

Thank you for your participation and support of the USC Gould School of Law.

Sincerely,
Andrew T. Guzman
