Subject:           Update on Thornton Dean Search – Second round of Listening Sessions scheduled

As chair of the Advisory Search Committee, I write to invite you to join members of the Thornton Dean’s Search Advisory Committee and our search consultants for a second round of staff and student Listening Sessions.  (A second faculty listening session is under discussion with the Thornton Faculty Council).

The purpose of these listening sessions is for you to share – directly with members of the search advisory committee and our search consultants – your views on the search for the next dean of the USC Thornton School of Music. What experiences and backgrounds do you want to see in the next leader of the Thornton School?  What opportunities and challenges do you believe the next dean will want to take advantage of and/or address?  What personal qualities do you hope to see in the next dean?

We are grateful to the respective Thornton student and staff councils for their partnership in organizing these upcoming sessions.  We encourage you to participate.

Please direct any questions to Robin Romans and Omar Villa (rromans@usc.edu; ovilla@usc.edu).

Thank you!
