Subject:  Search for the New Dean of the Price School of Public Policy

I am pleased to announce that we have appointed a search committee to identify and recruit the next dean to lead the USC Sol Price School of Public Policy. The search committee will be chaired by Andrew Guzman, Dean of the USC Gould School of Law. The complete roster follows this memo.

This committee is assembled to help us select the very best candidate for the Price School. Price is a model for public policy institutions. The School prepares future leaders in fields of law, public policy, education, healthcare, and real estate and urban planning whose work brings positive change for the public good. Price students become experts who seek to make meaningful change in public policy issues that unite leaders in public, private, and nonprofit arenas.

In addition, the Price School improves the quality of life for people and communities through education and research that promotes innovative solutions to the most critical issues facing society.

As the search moves forward, we will follow the same procedures that have been observed in other dean searches. The committee will review nominations, conduct interviews, and advise me on finalists. Those who are asked to interview the final candidates will be invited to send their comments regarding the strengths and possible weaknesses of these candidates to me directly and confidentially.

We have also assembled a special group of advisors who will be consulted by me throughout the process. I thank in advance the following friends of the Price School for their guidance: David Dollinger, Principal, Dollinger Properties; Cara Esposito, Chair of the Price Board of Councilors, Executive Director, Leonetti/O’Connell Family Foundation, and Adjunct Associate Professor; Kattie D. Johnson, Assistant Dean, Faculty and Academic Affairs; Sana Khalid, Graduate Student Government, Vice President of Programming; Robert Price, Co-Founder and Chairman, PriceSmart Inc.; Leonard Schaeffer, Founding Chairman & CEO, WellPoint and USC Trustee; and Wil Smith, Principal and Founder, Greenlaw Partners LLC.

To assist us in this important search, we have engaged the executive search firm Education Executives; Ilene Nagel is our primary consultant. We will follow up soon with additional information about how you can provide your nominations and input, and we will keep you informed of progress. You can also follow updates at our dean search website, https://deansearch.usc.edu.

Thank you for your participation and support of the USC Sol Price School of Public Policy as we work together to seek our next leader who will actively advance our academic excellence and global leadership.
