Subject: Search Advisory Committee for the New Dean of the School of Architecture
I am pleased to announce that we have appointed a search advisory committee to identify and recruit the next dean to lead the USC School of Architecture. The search advisory committee will be co-chaired by Dana Goldman, Dean of the USC Sol Price School of Public Policy and Ginger Clark, Associate Vice Provost for Academic and Faculty Affairs. The complete roster follows this memo.
This committee is assembled to help us select the very best candidate for the School of Architecture. The School has pushed beyond the traditional boundaries for the past 100 years, by encouraging students and faculty to defy constraints and reimagine the possibilities of the field. Architecture students are committed to the fundamental concerns of the built environment while embracing a global outlook.
In addition, the Architecture School encourages progressive, cultural thinking about architecture and its role in social change, with a commitment to disciplinary knowledge, civic and spatial justice, and innovation in architectural practice.
As the search moves forward, we will follow the same procedures that have been observed in other dean searches. The committee will review nominations, conduct interviews, and advise me on finalists. Those who are asked to interview the final candidates will be invited to send their comments regarding the strengths and possible weaknesses of these candidates to me directly and confidentially.
To assist us in this important search, we have engaged the executive search firm Education Executives; Ilene Nagel is our primary consultant. You will be invited to attend open forums with finalists, and encouraged to share your thoughts, which you will be able to submit confidentially. We will keep you informed of progress. You can also follow updates at our dean search website.
Thank you for your participation and support of the USC School of Architecture as we work together to seek our next leader who will actively advance our academic excellence and global leadership.
