Subject: Search Advisory Committee for the Dean of the USC Iovine and Young Academy
I am pleased to announce that we have appointed a search advisory committee to identify and recruit the next dean to lead the USC Jimmy Iovine and Andre Young Academy (IYA). The search advisory committee will be co-chaired by Emily Roxworthy, Dean of the USC School of Dramatic Arts, and Amy Cheung, Associate Provost. The complete committee roster follows this memo.
The Academy is unique among higher education institutions, offering a rigorous educational experience comprised of a wide range of disciplines. Graduates of IYA are prepared with cross-functional and expansive expertise that uniquely positions them to nimbly respond to a changing professional landscape with creativity, innovation, and rigor. Because the Academy plays such an important role in our university community—particularly in connecting USC to the broader creative professional community around us—selecting the next dean is a top priority. Our aim is to move quickly to find the talented, forward-thinking, and adaptable leader most suited to this role.
We will follow the same procedures observed in other dean searches as the search progresses. The committee will review nominations, conduct interviews, and advise me on finalists. Finalists invited to visit campus will meet with multiple constituencies.
Members of IYA and the wider USC community who are asked to interview final candidates will be invited to send their comments regarding each candidate’s strengths and weaknesses to me directly and confidentially.
We have engaged the search firm Isaacson, Miller to assist us in this important search. You will be invited to nominate possible candidates for the deanship, attend open forums with finalists, and share your thoughts, which you can submit confidentially. We will keep you informed of the search advisory committee’s progress. You can also follow updates at our dean search website.
