Dear IYA community,
We are beginning the process of assembling the search advisory committee that will identify and recruit the next Dean of Iovine and Young Academy (IYA).
I am seeking your confidential nominations of IYA faculty and staff who should serve on this committee. Self-nominations are entirely welcome as well. The committee will be co-chaired by Emily Roxworthy, Dean of the School of Dramatic Arts, and Associate Provost Amy Cheung; I offer my gratitude for their service in this role.
Members of the search advisory committee, in close collaboration with a professional search firm, will review nominations, conduct interviews, and advise me on finalists. All members of the community who have a chance to interact with candidates will be invited to confidentially share their views with the advisory committee and with me.
The Academy is unique among higher education institutions, offering a rigorous educational experience comprised of a wide range of disciplines, including arts and design, technology, entrepreneurship, and communication. Graduates of IYA are prepared with cross-functional and expansive expertise that uniquely positions them to nimbly respond to a changing professional landscape with creativity, innovation, and rigor. Because the Academy plays such an important role in our university community—particularly in connecting USC to the broader creative professional community around us—selecting the next dean is a top priority. Our aim is to move quickly to find the talented, forward-thinking, and adaptable leader most suited to this role.
Please send your nominations to me at deansearch@provost.usc.edu by end of day September 15, 2025. We will announce the search advisory committee shortly thereafter and keep the USC IYA community abreast of the process throughout the search.
Thank you in advance for your contributions to and participation in this process.
Sincerely,
Andrew T. Guzman
Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs
